I read this with my xiii and 16 year old daughters and nosotros really enjoyed it. They were a bit young for the target audience of this volume, but they got a lot out of it (and so did I, even though I'm already xl!) and nosotros had some dandy discussions. I don't agree with everything in information technology, but if you followed the advice in this book when you're young, you lot will be in proficient shape at 40!

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to other teenage Christians! I came into reading information technology with no exceptions and little else to read at the time, currently being at a place where I'm forced to move frontwards, this book contains advice I had to yet to hear. Though it was communication that thankfully went almost discussing things that are crucial to know. On personal identity, being confident in one'southward cocky as a work of the Creator. On brazen honesty and the importance of accountability.

Farrar, being a pastor uses his experience leading his church and his experience as a begetter, but more apparent, was his experience as a new cosmos of Christ himself. I love beloved his way of writing! He was thorough, used scripture to dorsum up what he said. He was genuinely funny and down to earth. There was no "I know all this because I'm a human," or, more alternately, "I know all this because I'thousand and so much smarter than yous and enlightened." Farrar was honest about his own faults, and it'southward because of that his experience and enquiry really spoke out.
How to Ruin Your Life by 40 isn't as dreary or morose every bit ane might imagine, simply one of the most encouraging things I've ever read in which the author is undeniably passionate about helping young adults to not ruin their lives.

Happily surprised to find that it was a Christian book. I read the paperback version, and devoured it in an afternoon. Not a very big book, but basic good straight-talk about fixing your life course when you know y'all're going down the wrong path. Happily surprised to detect that it was a Christian book. I was going to pull this book from the curriculum, but decided to give it a try. While some of the topic are out of range for my 14yo, I think having them in her head volition be good as she grows up. Perchance something will stick. 99% of the book I agreed with as a life view, and the parts I didn't I just left little sticky notes inside stating why I disagreed. Very bourgeois, but I don't think it is bad to read that side of things. I was going to pull this book from the curriculum, but decided to give it a try.
